Short assignment #1

Answer one of the following questions in 250-500 words (two pages double-spaced). Make certain you address each of the points for the question you choose. This is due at midnight Monday, Feb. 16.

1. Find one example of an organization that you think embraces a resistant/integrative grand strategy, or a cooperative/integrative grand strategy. Describe how you think that organization's grand strategy affects how it views publics, communication, communication professionals, technology, or any communication efforts the organization has embarked on.
2. Choose an innovation and discuss its diffusion, referencing diffusion of innovations theory. What aspects of the theory explain the diffusion? You may consider the social system, the diffusion decision, change agents, aspects of the innovation or other parts of the theory.
3. Discuss an example of the digital divide. You must provide some data to illustrate this divide. (You can find lots of data at the Pew Research Center). If you have space, discuss ways in which this divide could be surmounted. Reference the class readings.
