No readings this week

Work on your papers. Write a blog post. Attend an event.

I have a reading on participatory culture I will reference in lecture next week. This is really a terrific book, and the first chapter gives you a good sense of the whole thing. (This is an optional reading.)
  • Benkler, Yochai. (2006). The Wealth Of Networks: How Social Production Transforms Markets And Freedom. New Haven, CT: Yale University Press.
    • Why could we see peer production to be in conflict with the current economic model? (This is a tough question.)
    • Do you think that audiences will ultimately want media content created by experts, rather than peer produced?
